Because of this, only one customer can have a particular item in thier shopping bag at one time. When a customer adds an item to their shopping bag the item is put on 'hold' and reserved for that customer for 5 hours. If the 'hold' expires or the customer removes the item from their shopping bag the item will no longer have a 'hold' status and another customer may add it to their shopping bag. This ensures that when a customer purchases an item, it has not already been bought by someone else.
